Knit a Cozy Scarf with Ease
This week, I felt a strong urge to knit something long and repetitive.
I decided to make myself a woolen scarf! I found an amazing yarn store with a huge selection, including cashmere.
For the first time, I’m knitting with two strands—one made of cashmere and silk, and the other of alpaca and merino. I absolutely love the combination they create together!
I learned to crochet on my own while I was at university. My grandmother was a fantastic knitter, and my mom still knits to this day. They both tried to teach me when I was younger, but no one had the patience—being left-handed made it challenging for everyone who was right-handed in our family.
So instead, I spent a lot of time watching YouTube videos in slow motion. Later on, someone suggested that I could alter the playback speed in a video editor, and voilà!
By that point, I had already grasped the basics, so I didn’t need that feature anymore. I even got used to visualizing the patterns in my head. Plus, some tutorials are quite lengthy, and the time it takes to download and upload videos can be a hassle.
Recently, I ran into some difficulties with my scarf, and my husband found a website where you can instantly view videos via links! Oh my goodness, I can’t express how amazing it feels to watch a tutorial where the person is knitting with the same hand orientation as I am!
The only downside is that I still have to keep the audio instructions in mind (if they’re knitting right to left, I’m going left to right), but that’s a minor detail!
