Lucys Eye Journey: From Worry to Wellness
We recently wrapped up a veterinary saga that lasted almost a year.
Last November, I noticed a light spot in Lucy's eye right in the center. At that time, we were still in Yerevan, and the vet clinic wasn’t able to help us much. They said, “It’s likely a mechanical injury; you have a small flat-faced dog who might have bumped into something. There’s nothing we can do about the spot; it will stay. Here are some eye drops.”
Over time, a second spot appeared in her other eye, also right in the center, and it didn’t seem to resemble a mechanical injury at all.
I started to worry—what if this is a sign of impending blindness?
Finally, in February, when we made it to London, I decided to consult a local vet. Her theory shocked me! She suggested that the spots on Lucy's eyes were due to excess cholesterol. We did a blood test to check her cholesterol levels, and it turned out they were indeed elevated.
We put her on a low-fat diet and added supplements with salmon oil. A few months passed, and honestly, I didn’t even notice when the spots disappeared!
Happy ending! 🐾💖
