Mastering Household Routines for Harmony
Household Routines
I recently found myself reflecting on my habits and routines. I have many rules in my household that I strive to follow, and not adhering to them can be quite disheartening for me.
For instance, we have a cat litter box in a common area, cleverly hidden in a wooden box. Every Tuesday, I completely change it: I clean the area with a disinfectant, wash the box itself, and replace the mat inside. One half of the litter goes into the clean box, and I gradually add the second half throughout the week. This way, I have a clear understanding of how much litter I use each month, when I need to order more, and how much to get. It probably goes without saying that I prefer a specific type of litter.
But sometimes, my wonderful husband, eager to help, inadvertently disrupts my routine.
- “It's okay, let him clean however he wants. He just wants to help! When he goes to work, I can simply redo it.”
- “Redo the litter box? Are you out of your mind? No one should know that you’re this particular about things, not even you. Don’t do it.”
- “Fair point.”
In moments like these, I often think of a friend of mine who once took apart her oven with a screwdriver just to give it a thorough cleaning. I genuinely admire her!
