Navigating Job Rejection and New Opportunities
Rejection from the Agency and a New Interview
I finally received a rejection from that advertising agency. I hope, as the HR rep said, they had already interviewed someone else and it wasn’t because I said something silly during the five-minute screening.
On the bright side, I got a positive response from a food delivery service that's looking for a Rider Content Associate! It’s not exactly what I’m searching for, but the job description and tasks sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a try. I had a screening interview with HR yesterday.
I prepared well for the call and managed to anticipate almost all the questions. To be fair, they sent an email beforehand stating that they would assess how well I fit the position and what I’m looking for in the role.
The conversation revolved around the essential and desirable requirements. The job description mentioned experience with CRM/CMS systems, A/B testing and segmentation in email marketing, knowledge of HTML/CSS, content creation, and graphic design, and I was asked about all of that.
I got quite nervous and read nearly all my answers from my notes. Luckily, the interview was audio-only, and I had prepared well in advance. I was able to channel some acting skills and present my responses as if I were speaking naturally.
At the end, I asked my own questions, and there was a funny moment. I inquired about the achievements they expect from a person in this role over the next 3-6 months and what metrics they would use.
Throughout the call, the manager's tone was quite neutral, even a bit detached, so I was surprised when she responded. She said that in just 3-6 months, they were mainly looking for someone to get immersed in the company and understand the tasks—essentially just getting on board.
It’s hard to imagine receiving such a response if I were interviewing with companies like Yandex Food or Samokat!
