Navigating Values Assessments in the Workplace

Situational Judgement Test

Yesterday, while submitting another application, I received a notification that I needed to complete a Values Assessment — a test to see how well my values align with those of the company and to evaluate corporate competencies.

The assessment consisted of two parts. In the first part, I had to drag a slider towards the side that I felt more aligned with (team player vs. lone wolf, etc.). The second part presented various corporate situations with multiple action options. I had to rank these options from most to least preferred.

In all the situations, my husband and I generally agreed, but one sparked a serious debate. Let me share it with you!

Situation: You are attending a training session with colleagues from different departments. Throughout the day, you've noticed that Mike, one of your colleagues from another team, seems different today.

Action Options:

💜 A) You approach Mike as soon as possible and ask him how he’s doing, wanting to know if there's anything you can help with.
💜 B) You decide not to approach Mike today, thinking it might be too soon to intervene, as he could just be having a tough day.
💜 C) You go to Mike's manager and share your observations, believing that the manager is in the best position to support him.
💜 D) You consider the best time to approach Mike and start a conversation, wanting to understand how he feels and if you can support him.

I’ll leave a poll at the bottom asking which option you would choose in this situation⬇️

It would be interesting if you could share your opinion in the comments on this post. Just let us know what field you're in and where you work!

Later, I’ll share what I ended up choosing and what my husband and I thought about it.
