Night Adventures in Hampstead Heath

What to do late at night in London?

Recently, a friend from Barcelona caught me off guard with this question. I mean, aside from the obvious options like strolling through the city, catching a musical, or visiting pubs.

And finally, I have an answer!

Grab the cheapest pair of rubber boots and head out for a walk in Hampstead Heath at night. Unlike other parks I know, this one doesn’t close after dark, making it perfectly legitimate. Plus, the area is very safe — there's nothing to worry about.

Last night, we felt like part of the Harry Potter universe. Any moment now, Dementors might appear from behind a hill or a Thestral could fly across the gray, leaden sky.

If you find yourself there at dusk on a dry night, there’s an incredible spot from this bench to observe bats.

And hey, you can also treat yourself to a nice pair of rubber boots as a London souvenir — royal Hunters or classic Barbours. You’ll remember squelching in the mud of Hampstead Heath in them!

The main underground lines run all night on Fridays and Saturdays, so getting home is a breeze.
