Our Memorable Day at Wimbledon

Our First Wimbledon 🥹🎾

We arrived before 7 AM to join the famous queue. As it turns out, being number 5825 in line is considered lucky! The delightful volunteers, plenty of restrooms, water stations, and food tents made the experience much more enjoyable. Honestly, lying on the lawn with my husband for six hours is far more pleasant than standing alone in a line for a visa for the same amount of time without food and water!

Even after getting the coveted Ground Pass, it’s essential to mentally prepare for crowds everywhere: at the entrance to the store, for strawberries, for food, and on the courts. I must say, I didn’t wait in line for the restroom anywhere!

We knew we wouldn’t catch the singles matches since they all took place on the show courts, which require different tickets. Thankfully, the Ticket Resale Kiosk saved us. Following the advice of experienced attendees, we even tried to persuade the staff to let us through, but they remained firm. We did manage to watch almost the entire doubles match featuring Mirra Andreyeva and Diana Schneider! It was fantastic — the court was small, and we sat in the front row.

To be honest, the iconic strawberries were overrated. Not only did we scour the grounds searching for them, but we also ended up taking the last two boxes from one stand. I felt a bit awkward in front of everyone waiting behind us who missed out. We didn’t try the Pimm’s (not to be confused with the one in Moscow), but I've heard it’s really tasty. Unlike the strawberries, it seems everyone was enjoying that.

There are so many different shops! We tried to buy something unique or useful. We picked up wristbands, a large candle with the scent of freshly cut grass, and a mini tennis bag for our dog Lucy's treats. A towel like the athletes use costs £40 🥲.

So, how much did we spend for two people in one day?

💚 £15.50 for round trip travel
💚 £5.15 for coffee in the park
💚 £17.52 for breakfast at McDonald's
💚 £60 for tickets (ground passes)
💚 £13.35 for strawberries and lemonades
💚 £46.20 for lunch (burgers, fries, cola)
💚 £75 for souvenirs (candle, wristbands, keychain)

Total: £232.72

Will I stand in that queue again? Absolutely! But not on a weekend or after the second round unless I have a ticket for a specific day. I’ll also make sure to heed my coach's advice and check out the practice courts for a close-up look at the top tennis players.
