Searching for Caramelized Bananas in London

The Same Bananas

Back in 2010, I first tried caramelized bananas at the Chinese restaurant "Druzhba" on Novoslobodskaya. Since then, they've become one of my favorite desserts. In fact, they still serve them there!

Later on, I moved to Abu Dhabi with my husband, where we found a favorite little Chinese restaurant that had the most delicious Peking duck and, of course, my beloved bananas. Life was sweet!

Then we moved to London. I thought, "China Town. Caramelized bananas. This will be easy!" Little did I know. Back in April, for my birthday, we roamed around ten different restaurants in search of that dessert. The staff looked puzzled, as if they had never heard of these bananas before.

Finally, one girl recommended a place in Chinatown, but it didn’t measure up. They were tasty, but soft and just soaked in syrup.

Then, this past weekend, while walking near Regent's Park, we stumbled upon a little Chinese restaurant. You can guess what happened next. My joy knew no bounds! They were the ones.

I also recommend trying the jellyfish salad there!
