Unraveling Lucys Mysterious Health Issues
A Mysterious Veterinary Story
Just when we thought we’d addressed one issue, another has arisen.
A couple of months ago, we noticed that Lucy had a strange swelling on her lip. We had a vaccination appointment coming up, and the vet reassured us that it could be a reaction to an insect sting or something similar.
Fast forward two months, and the same swelling happened again, twice within five days. This time, it was a bit above her lip, closer to her nose. The vet asked a myriad of questions about her diet and routine, but ultimately, she couldn't provide any answers. It’s just one of those puzzling cases!
We've agreed that I'll send her all the photographs and a detailed description of these occurrences, so she can consult with her team.
You'd think that living in a place with a favorable climate would be ideal for Lucy, but there seems to be something triggering this reaction. It’s definitely not her food or treats; we only give her dog-specific snacks, and even those in limited quantities.
I remember our time in Abu Dhabi, where there were plenty of peculiar incidents as well. One of the most common issues was the so-called hot spot—an inflamed, red paw. Many dogs suffered from this due to the heat.
Once, Lucy had her entire face swell up dramatically. Looking back at that chipmunk face makes me laugh now, but it wasn't funny at the time. That day, I had given her an avocado pit to play with (not knowing it’s toxic to dogs). I confessed everything to the vet, who administered an antihistamine shot, and we went home. A couple of hours later, the swelling returned even stronger. Blood tests revealed Lucy had a bacterial infection completely unrelated to the avocado. In the end, she was prescribed antibiotics.
So, I’ll keep you posted on what this mystery could be! We are determined to get our little jewel back to health. ❤️🩹
