Veterinary Visit for Luskas Health Concern

It's been a while since I shared any veterinary stories!

Luska has been making squeaky and whiny sounds for the past few days whenever she jumps onto her usual furniture.

I carefully checked all her paws, examined each toe, and pulled at her in various ways—but I couldn't figure it out, so we decided to visit the vet.

I absolutely love our veterinary clinic and the doctors there! I wish I could be treated with such love and attention, too, and told that I'm a good girl—ideally without any thermometer action or surprise beef lung treats at the end.

Luska had her heart checked, temperature taken, spine examined, and underwent numerous neurological tests. While doctors tap people's knees with a little hammer, it’s pretty funny to see them bending doggie toes and trying to straighten a bent paw.

The good news is that our little patient is perfectly healthy! It seems she’s just been racing around with the cats and might have simply pulled something awkwardly.

The vet was thorough because there are some concerns with certain breeds like Cavaliers and toy spaniels—syringomyelia is fairly common in them. This neurological condition occurs when fluid-filled cavities form in the spinal cord. Since the brain is slightly larger than the skull, pressure builds up and disrupts fluid drainage.

However, the doctor reassured us that such issues are very rare in adulthood.

So for now, we just got some pain relief for a week. For the visit and the medication, we paid £82.

By local standards, that's practically a steal! I remember once we paid £500 for two visits (two examinations, blood tests, and medications).
